Corporate Donors

TechFIN extends a special thank you to our corporate donors, without whom the completion of our mission would not be possible. To ensure both the security of the donor and the computer’s ultimate recipient, TechFIN uses PDWipe to perform a declassified drive wipe. This wiping algorithm exceeds that specified by the Department of Defense DOD 5220.22-M specification for both “clearing” and “purging” of sensitive information on Hard Drives.

Corporate PCs and laptops tend to be higher-end machines than the average machine a consumer would purchase for home use, and as a result, have longer life spans. Companies in the finance sector replace their computers every three years. Companies in more graphics-intensive industries such as engineering, architecture, and graphic design, replace their computers every two years. Other industries are on a four-year replacement cycle. As a result, every year millions of still working machines are disposed of in favor of newer machines when they could be put to good use in someone’s home. TechFIN is proud to partner with our corporate donors in an attempt to redirect these working machines from the scrap heap to the living room.

Nonprofit Partners

TechFIN partners with a number of nonprofit organizations that work closely with low-income families. These organizations are well equipped to identify which families are in need and which families will likely make the best use of a computer in the home. As such, it is incumbent upon us to continue to identify these organizations and foster relationships with them.

We stipulate that the nominated recipient families do not already own a working computer in the home, have at least one child under the age of 18 in the household that regularly attends school, and qualify as low-income households. We rely upon the judgment of our partner organizations to nominate families most likely to put a computer in the home to good use. Currently, we have relationships with:

Star Donors

TechFIN is a recognized 501(c)(3) organization that is 100% dependent on the generous contributions of our supporters. Without you, TechFIN would not be able to reach as many families as we do today. You are directly responsible for making a difference in someone’s life. Thank you for your annual monetary gifts. We are currently able to procure a used laptop or PC to a family for $130 per computer. We are striving every day to drive this cost down and stretch your contributed dollars even further.
